The Ministry of Transport provided clarifications this Monday on the works being undertaken, along with Aeropuertos Argentina 2000, at the country's main airport. According to Guillermo Dietrich, the airport will have for the first time a single terminal with all its integrated sectors, so there will be a single departure building and a single arrival building. Ezeiza will grow four times its size, going from the current 58,400 m2 to 217,230 m2. Boarding gates will go from 27 to 52; check-in counters from 132 to 138, but self-check-in machines will quadruple (from 32 to 138), there will be five new luggage conveyors, the number of garages will increase by 53% and there will be 4 times as many aircraft positions, which will increase the airport's operational capacity. In the meantime, the construction of the new control tower is progressing, and work has already begun to repair the main runway, repair its taxiways and the marker system, and rebuild the junction between it and the secondary runway, which was rebuilt last year.
